Design of an Automatic Lamp Control Device Using a Sound Sensor Based on Arduino

Abstract

A house is a place of residence for humans, and along with the advancement of time, houses have evolved into various types, including two-story and three-story buildings. Electricity expenses can increase due to the large number of electrical connections in multi-story houses. For example, a two-story house typically contains 3 to 4 bedrooms, which requires occupants to go up and down the stairs to turn off the lights. Often, lights are left on when residents forget to switch them off before leaving the house. A solution to this issue is to develop an automatic light control system using a sound sensor. This system allows the lights to be turned on automatically, even when the occupant is on the first floor or when the house is unoccupied. This research aims to design an automatic lamp control device using a sound sensor based on Arduino. The system produced by this research enables users to activate lights automatically by mentioning the name of the room, eliminating the need to move between floors to operate lights on the second or third floor. Based on the results of room and distance testing, an accuracy of 80% was achieved for room-specific tests, 70% for distance testing, and 68.82% for sound sensor detection accuracy. These results indicate that the design and implementation of the system have performed well.
