Publication Ethics for the International Journal of Artificial Intelligence in Medical Issues

Section A: Publication and Authorship

All submitted manuscripts undergo a rigorous double-blind peer-review process conducted by at least two expert reviewers in the relevant field. The criteria for evaluation include relevance, soundness, significance, originality, readability, and language. Review outcomes may result in acceptance, acceptance with revisions, or rejection. Revisions do not guarantee acceptance. Rejected manuscripts will not be reconsidered. Paper acceptance is governed by applicable legal standards regarding libel, copyright infringement, and plagiarism. Submissions cannot be published in more than one journal.

Section B: Authors’ Responsibilities

- Authors must certify that their manuscripts are original works.
- Manuscripts must not have been previously published or be under consideration elsewhere.
- Authors are required to participate in the peer-review process.
- Authors must provide retractions or corrections when necessary.
- All authors listed must have made significant contributions to the research.
- Authors must confirm the authenticity of all data in the manuscript.
- Conflicts of interest must be disclosed to the editors.
- Authors must properly cite all sources used in their research.
- Authors must report any errors identified in their published work to the editors.

Section C: Reviewers’ Responsibilities

- Reviewers must maintain confidentiality regarding submitted manuscripts.
- Reviews should be objective and devoid of personal criticism.
- Reviewers must provide constructive feedback with supporting arguments.
- Reviewers should identify relevant uncited published work.
- Reviewers must notify the Editor-in-Chief of any similarities or overlap between the manuscript and other known works.
- Reviewers should decline to review manuscripts if they have conflicts of interest due to competitive, collaborative, or other relationships with the authors, institutions, or companies involved.

Section D: Editors’ Responsibilities

- Editors hold the authority to accept or reject submissions.
- Editors are responsible for the overall content and quality of the publication.
- Editors must balance the needs of both authors and readers in striving to improve the journal.
- The integrity of the academic record and the quality of submissions must be upheld.
- Corrections or retractions should be issued as necessary.
- Editors must have transparency regarding research funding sources.
- Decisions should be based on a manuscript’s importance, originality, clarity, and relevance to the journal's scope.
- Editors should not reverse their decisions without significant reason.
- The anonymity of reviewers must be maintained.
- Editors must ensure that all published research conforms to ethical guidelines recognized internationally.
- Editors are required to act upon suspicions of misconduct and work toward resolving the issue.
- Decisions on manuscript rejections should be based on proof of misconduct, not suspicions.
- Editors must avoid conflicts of interest between staff, authors, reviewers, and board members.
